Peripartum cardiomyopathy (a form of dilated cardiomyopathy)is a rare disorder in which a weakened heart is diagnosed within the final month of pregnancy or within 5 months after delivery. In the United States, ppcm complicates 1 in every 1,300 - 4,000 deliveries. It may occur in healthy childbearing women of any age. I happen to be one of those women effected by PPCM, and I hope that you enjoy reading my blog as it will contain my experience with PPCM as well as others things in my life.

The Hamster test..
On Thursday afternoon I successfully completed my stress test. They got my heart rate up to 150 by making me run after walking for about 8-9 mins. Man when he said run seconds later I felt like I just wasn't going to make it. My heart rate quickly increased and the treadmill portion was completed. After the treadmill I had to sit on another machine that takes still shots of the heart. My followup appt is on Tuesday so I can provide a bit more detail at that time. Today the tech did tell me that it looks good and I am at 50% again. Til next week!!!!!!
